What does a WhatsApp or Telegram bot cost?
A small guided menu and a multilingual assistant connected to customer records are different projects. To compare quotes, separate what must be developed from what must keep running. A useful budget describes the workflow, its connections and the expected volume of use.

Start with the work, not the messenger
A bot that shows business hours and collects a callback request needs a different scope from one that checks order status, books an available appointment or lets an employee update a job. List the actions, the information source and who must intervene. The number of conversation steps alone is not a reliable estimate.
What affects the development quote
| Cost driver | What needs to be specified |
|---|---|
| Conversation | Journeys, languages, changed choices and human help |
| Connections | CRM, calendar, store and existing interface access |
| AI | Approved information, output checks and permitted actions |
| Staff tools | Assignment, conversation handling and operating views |
| Launch | Testing, account setup, documentation and training |
Which costs can continue after launch
The operating budget can include hosting, a messaging or automation provider, external software, AI usage and maintenance. Identify which accounts the business pays directly and which services are included in the support arrangement. A low development fee does not tell you the total operating cost.
WhatsApp platform charges depend on message category and recipient market; provider fees can be additional. For Telegram, budget for the actual infrastructure and connected services, and check any paid platform features you intend to use. We confirm relevant terms for the proposed setup.
A useful first stage keeps the boundaries clear
- One defined enquiry type
- One necessary connection
- A clear human handoff
- Agreed acceptance tests
AI changes the budget only if the task needs it
Menus, routing, confirmations and reminders can work without AI. A language model may add summarisation or flexible responses, together with source preparation and quality checks. Estimate typical use and define a limit. A bot should have a planned fallback if the AI service is unavailable or its budget is reached.
Questions to ask when comparing offers
- Which actions, languages and integrations are included?
- What happens when a request is incomplete or a service fails?
- Who owns the accounts and can change the bot or export its data?
- Which third-party costs are separate, and how can usage grow?
- What is tested before acceptance, and what support follows?
What to send for a meaningful quote
Describe the business, messenger, common requests and expected busy periods. List existing tools, required languages and the point at which an employee takes over. A few anonymised examples are more useful than access passwords. We can then offer a focused release and distinguish required work from later options.
Frequently asked questions
Can you publish a single price for every bot?
A fixed price is meaningful only with a defined scope. We prepare a written quote after checking the workflow and connections.
Is there always a monthly AI subscription?
No. AI is optional; where used, its plan or usage charges depend on the selected provider and workload.
Does a free bot builder remove all costs?
It may cover a simple interface. Hosting, integrations, staff operation and maintenance still need to be assessed.
Can we add more functions later?
Yes. We can plan a first stage and identify what would need to change for additional workflows or channels.
